Let me start by saying that Turning Stone is a first rate golf facility. The bottom line is, I think the course is worth checking out, but I probably wouldn't be willing to pay the regular price. The only negative comment I have is that the front nine is close to the NYS Thruway, so there is a lot of annoying road noise. Suffice it to say, putting - at least for me and my son - was challenging.
There are no flat, straight putts on any green they are all undulating. Sometimes the ball would break about six inches from the hole despite there being no indication from studying and lining up the putt. I had great difficulty reading the greens and did not putt very well. The fairways were pristine considering it was mid-October and the greens were in great condition. It was October, so it gets dark at 6:20pm, but we were able to get all 18 in thanks to the group in front of us who kept moving despite appearing to be mediocre to poor golfers. My son and I took advantage of a fall special for $70 for tee times after 2pm.
